Did anyone watch the PBS '60s' show?

I caught parts of it, and thought it was pretty interesting.

But, I thought I would hurl every time a certain "Nixon speechwriter" would talk, though.

1. I saw parts of it last night
the funny part was Ed Meese talking about how Bobby Seale from the Black Panthers (I think it was him or was it Huey) was in law school classes he taught. Most of it I figured I would already know, but that was very very funny.

7. That was Huey Newton he was talking about; Ed Meese's law student
and by the way I knew Eldridge Cleaver slightly as an older member in my church, a couple of years before he died.

3. well, nixon said one very accurate thing
that is so relevant today... it was after the democratic 68 convention in chicago..

"if the democrats can't even unite their own party, how do they expect to unite the country?"

truer words were never spoken. i hope the so-called democratic leaders take heed...

4. plus
the arguments they were using for vietnam are fighteningly similar to the arguemnts for iraq.

we just don't learn our lessons. especially if there is money to be made.

what's a few deaths as long as the military industrial complex is making big bucks off of it?

5. You noticed that too
If we don't fight them there we'll have to fight them in San Diego. At times I thought it was a chimpy* press conference. I could have done withiout the comments by the rabid right.

6. I saw the parallels too.
Vietnam was based on Johnson's lie about being attacked in Gulf of Tonkin. Iraq War based on Bush's lie about WMD and how if we didn't preempt, there'd be war here. Lies, lies, lies.
One twist though is that Vietnam took the people's attention away from fighting poverty and other social programs that had started before. Here, we may see the interest in creating and revitalizing social programs due to the hurricanes, divert the government's interest and ability to wage war. That would be great.
