He totally fucked up an argument in Freakenomics. The original argument was that abortion has reduced the crime rate because unwanted children born to impoverished or single teenage mothers are more likely to commit crimes. There's a fairly good sociological argument there.

But this guy called in to his show saying that if we had banned abortion we'd have enough workers paying into Social Security to save it. And then Bill said that.

Later he tried to back out of it by saying it was taken out of context. To a very small extent that is true. But he went immediately from Crime to Black. Just one more example of the ugly current of racism that exists in American society. And we pretend it isn't true and pat ourselves on the back and when it rears it's ugly head we pretend it didn't happen.


And I am so fucking tired of it.....
