I have returned...but I'm exhausted
Last week, we ran from Rita. Just today, I admitted my son to a hospital. Tonight, I have to pick my brother up from the airport at 10:30. May I have a nap now?

3. Things had gotten out of control
Two fights in one week, one on my birthday which resulted in him having a laceration on the back of his head. Last night, he charged my husband and made chicken fly (without wings). That was the final straw...one month of him getting more and more aggressive, another month adjusting to new meds with little improvement in his behavior. I just couldn't take it anymore.

12. I hope so too
He had such a wonderful school year last year. He's already been sent to the office three times in two months.

13. I hope so too
I tried not to go that way, but no matter what was done at home, he just kept raging. I just couldn't take anymore.

18. Hopefully he will be better in a controlled environment...
I know how upsetting it can be. My youngest has several disorders himself.

19. I hope so
He's diagnosed with ADHD, Asperger's, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

They asked him today if he had been fighting people. His response "Yeah, they make me mad." They let him know that he wouldn't be touching anybody there.

21. I wish you the best with him, Dear. There's nothing...
more heart-wrenching then not being able to reach those we love. They're making advances every day in the treatment of such illnesses, though.

4. Thanks
I wish I could just curl up and not leave the house for the rest of the night...My brother was supposed to come home last weekend, but didn't because of Rita. My parents still aren't back home, so I'm the only one here to go get him.

10. Thanks
It was NOT a fun trip...16 hours in the car the first day, 6 more the next.

As for the kiddo, this was coming before the hurricane scare, but I don't think that helped much either. The therapist told me where to take him, and it seemed like a pretty good place. I hope they can help. We're going up there tomorrow for a family session.

We were fortunate enough to find a great play therapist, and he was in a great PUBLIC school. The caps are a shout out to the great PUBLIC school teachers I've met raising my kids. My point was that anything outside of daily routine triggered meltdown. With your child, I can only imagine what you are going through.

However, the nap will have to wait. Naturally, my brother has to fly into the airport on the other side of Houston, not the one 30 minutes from my house. I have a nine year old running around the house, and if I ever got to sleep, I probably wouldn't wake up in time to pick up my brother.

20. Just talked to my brother
He's in Denver, right on time. I'm leaving here around 8:30 to meet him at the airport. I should probably remain awake.

23. Oh my holy god, my dear Not_Giving_Up.........
What a horrible situation for you.....troubles on top of troubles...

I'm so sorry about your son...I sure hope they will be able to help him....at least now he's in a safe, controlled environment...
I can just barely imagine what you must be feeling about him....your baby.....It's horrifying when we can't reach or help our children...

And you have to fetch your brother...no way he could take a cab? Is it prohibitively expensive?

Please take care of yourself, my dear...How I wish I could do more than offer online comfort.....
