Poll question: Weird Poll about your BODY and DANCING
Imagine you're in a room with other people, and one wall was completely mirrored (as in a dance studio). You're dancing freestyle in a way that captures the essence of the music that's playing (which could be percussion or could be classical)...

Looking at your reflection, would you feel self-conscious or concerned about how you looked? And if so, do you think you'd be more self-conscious, embarrassed or concerned about your appearance as a static image (your body shape, your wrinkles, or something about your appearance you dislike) OR, would you be more self-conscious about how you looked while doing your movements (thinking you looked stupid, awkward, unmasculine or unfeminine, etc.)?

(In other words, would you be more likely to think to yourself something like, "I don't mind dancing, but I really hate how fat I look," OR, "I don't mind looking at myself in the mirror if I were just standing still, but I look like a dork when I try to dance.")

1. don't give a shit any more.........
what anyone else thinks, especially when I'm dancing....:)

I enjoy it, I don't harm anyone else (unless they want me to...;-) ), and that's all that matters.....:toast:

Plus, I just posted in response to the "what did you want to be when you were 8" question that I wanted to be a go-go dancer (supposedly I was saying that as young as age 3....lol).

3. Well, I don't think I'd be self-conscious about either one......
BUT it would partly depend on who was looking at me......

If it was people I love...then no problem....

And especially if it was music I really love...that would be awesome!

I have a big study, and I love to dance around to certain types of music......with an imaginary audience applauding of course!

4. I'm a man and I don't dance.
I know I'll look like a dumbass (or having a seizure) if I do dance, so I avoid it altogether and instead, I just sit back and get drunk. :)

6. The mirrored room thing is weird.

You don't quite realize how self-conscious you are going to feel until you get into that situation. I recently started going to a yoga studio with all mirrored walls and it took me several classes until I got kind of comfortable with my body image. I can see its utility as far as being able to do the postures more correctly, but it is more than a little unsettling. People by and large do NOT look at themselves for an hour and a half at a stretch in normal life.

7. i take a lot of classes in mirrored rooms
having the mirrors is helpful for correcting mistakes in alignment and movement, i'm not worried about what i look like to myself.

(although to be honest when the mirror is a bit of a "fat" mirror, it definately gets my attention.)

8. I would be self conscious if I found myself
doing a twirly hippie dance with hairy armpits and BO. But my regular dancing, no. And standing around-no I would not feel self conscious.

9. I'd have a much easier time not looking at the mirror.
I stiffen if I overthink my movements.
