Did anyone see the show on Bravo about the Red States?
They talked about how much people hate HIllary in the traditional "Red States". Unfortunetly they're right. I don't think there's anything they can do about it either.

1. Hillary is hated by more rightie bone heads than President Clinton
ever was. They see her as the epitome of everything that's wrong with the "liburls": feminazism, homersexiality, commienism, y'all name it.

3. I never understand why they hate her so much
Hell, she votes with them half the time. I guess its because they want first ladies to be seen and not heard.

7. Take a good hard look at Laura Bush and you'll understand why
Women aren't meant to make decisions, they're meant to be subservient to the husband. At least that's the opinion of the neo-con fundies. I posted a Happy Birthday thread for Eleanor Roosevelt and she had to deal with much of the same wrath that Hillary deals with today.

2. I didn't see the show, but I can attest to that.
They say the name Clinton the same way the say "homosexual" in the red states ( I live in one). They say it with so much contempt, it's pathetic. Without some serious backup (in terms of libs moving to red states in droves to change the voting climate) we may be stuck with repugs forever, I'm afraid. I do with libs would start moving into NC at huge rates and change this place for the better. It would be a serious upgrade. I would be willing to bet the quality of life would go up fast.

4. It's not just "red staters" that dislike her...
this is one blue-stater who can't stand her. First, it's her disastrous, pro-corporate health care plan in the 90s, then her unwaivering support for this stupid war. Then her seriously misguided flirtation with the anti-choice crowd a few months ago.

With "friends" like this, who needs enemies?

11. Yeah - what he said!
This blue dot in a sea of red can't stand her either and I would not vote for her, even if she were the only nominee from us.

5. Is it just me or did the hate start on the campaign trail?
The Hate Hillary craze bubbled up very quickly...way before the health care plan and all the conspiracy crap over Whitewater. Was it because she was a strong, intelligent woman or was there something else going on that I don't recall?

6. I saw the show
And while bits of it were funny, I thought it was pretty insulting to anybody who actually lives in a red state.

As we here on DU know, they're not all cousin-marrying, Hillary-hating fat hillbillies, right? Because that's basically what that show said people who live in red states are.

8. Well that's odd.
I was curious about the show until I read your post.

Now I'm wondering about the agenda of whomever is responsible for framing the thing in that manner.

12. It was part of a series
"Great Things About...."

http://www.bravotv.com/Great_Things_About_Being_Red_State/

I think the goal was to be snarky and sarcastic, but I just felt uncomfortable with their superior attitude. Everything was a stereotype.

9. bravo red states
i did not see it, but i live in a red state which pisses me off because during the last election kerry got 45% of the votes. that should not make the whole state considered red.
