Two etiquette questions I've been meaning to ask.
1)If you use a valet at your hotel, and you plan to take the car in and out of valet parking, which means that the valet might have to retrieve your car several times for you, do you tip him every time that he brings your car to you? Or do you just tip him when you check out of the hotel? How much do you tip a valet?

2)If someone has an item for sale in the local paper, and it's a brand new listing and you know that you're going to have to be quick on the draw to buy the item, how early in the morning should you call? 7AM? 8AM?

Ok...those are my questions. Thanks for answers.

3. I tip every time as well. In this case, $2 each time adds up, but it also
means great service, especially if you are nice to the attendant and it's the same person, and you ask their name.

I always tip in a hotel any time I request or receive a service. Tipping ensures I'm well taken care of. That, and a big smile and a gracious attitude go a million miles.

I get car upgrades, room upgrades, an extra glass of wine, free coffee and dessert, etc., just by tipping well and being gracious.

4. The valet guys in New Orleans must have loved me.
I tipped every time, too, and at least $5 each time. ON the last day, I tipped $20 when I checked out.

Having had no experience with valet parking, I just did what I thought was right.

5. It still seems 'right' to me.
I pre-clean my room and still leave a tip when I check-out ...

Don't bet on the Saints!

But seriously - I have no idea about valet parking. Glad that link on tipping was provided.

7:00 a.m is a good time to begin calling and it is NEVER TOO LATE to call a friend. :hi:
