I got a new job!
I'm working in a meat packing plant here in the Pittsburgh area. They box and ship meats out to restaurants/grocers. It's quite the career change for me. My background is as an intelligence analyst and insurance agent. I've never worked a hard day in my life, really. My first blue collar job. It pays well, has good benefits, and is unionized (I'd never take a non-union industrial job). I'm pretty new to the industrial world. It's going to be really odd, given my prissy and metrosexual ways. :D

3. Intelligence analyst/insurance agent/ meat packer
I'll let you in on a joke in the meat industry

Meat-ship it by day pack it by night.

Good for you. It is funny to hear someone say that they wouldn't take a non-union job sitting here in Va. 99% of the people here have no idea about unions and are so brainwashed they would actually think that is a bad thing.

4. My mother just got fired from a steel mill
because she was management and not union. In today's insane market, you gotta have that protection.

5. Good luck
Dress warmly.
Is this just a general labor position or are you doing something more specific?
If you are going to be doing any type of heavy labor, be sure to stretch before starting your shift and at breaks especially since it will be cold.
Feel the people out a bit before completely revealing yourself, the prissy metrosexual. All I am saying is that some people in these get bored with their jobs and like to pick on people who are different from them for entertainment. If this happens though, don't get too discouraged. There are probably more worthwhile people who you can befriend anyway.
