Anyone else like Robbie Robertsons music?

My Mom and I use to listen to his records together and she loved him.
Does anyone know what song had something about "Big Sky breakfast at high noon" on it?

It was his first solo album with a bunch of guest stars on it. Fantastic recording, i love every song on it.

Peter Gabriel! American Roulette is my favorite song on the album, with Maria singing back-up and Bozio really banging the drums!

One of my all-time favorites, although he never did anything quite as good again. Didn't like Storyville, next album, at all, I'm afraid.

It was another of those truly memorable albums produced by Daniel Lanois during the 1980s. The guest artists included Rick Danko, Maria McKee, U2 and Peter Gabriel, among others. The first single was "Showdown at Big Sky," but my favorite track was always "Fallen Angel," which is about Richard Manuel. Then again, "Broken Arrow" was another memorable song.

As I recall, "Robbie Robertson" won a lot of Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammies). I remember watching the ceremony on Canadian TV back in the '80s.

Robertson is definitely among the top songwriters of the rock era, and he, like John Hiatt and Richard Thompson, is a great source for other singers. There have been some wonderful covers of his work.

and in the chorus of which, that line is followed by "darkness at high noon". It's the second track from his 1987 album entitled simply 'Robbie Robertson. Co-produced by Daniel Lanois, recorded by Jim Scott, and mixed by Bob Clearmountain. It's a great one.

Computer at home is filled with Robbie Robertson pictures, the email inbox has mailing list messages from other fans, CD changer in the car is stuffed with various CDs of his from 1968 to the present, old magazines with interviews of him are always showing up around the house thanks to eBay... Yeah, she's a total fan girl.

but love Robbie's stuff. I try not to think too much about his, no doubt, pre-cancerous lungs when I listen to him sing though. That boy loves his tobacco. At any rate, great songs.

My favorite is that album he did with the American Indian theme. Weird, wild stuff. Haven't heard anything he's done lately.

8. The Red Road Ensemble

Music for Native Americans.
Robbie is a Native American himself and has done many projects with and for Native Americans. Did you see the Grand Opening of the Winter Olympics last year? He wrote and conducted some of the music as the Native peoples welcomed all our international guests. One of the most moving experiences I have ever witnessed.

...on one of his CDs, a collaboration with Verdell Primeaux & Johnny Mike, is one I like. Although I don't understand the vocals (apart from the name "Wakan Taka") it's just very comforting to listen to. You get the feeling that everything will be all right and Somebody up there loves you and me.

Lately he's been busy as an A&R man for DreamWorks and hasn't released any recordings, though I'm told there's plenty of music in him. There's rumors of a future collaboration with Garth Hudson & Levon Helm in the works...
