VH1's "Big Ones in 03" awards
Natalie Maines won for her comments about *, i.e., she was "ashamed" he comes from Texas.

Huge applause -- was introduced by Bill Maher, who totally tore the * admin to shreds.

Oh, yeah, who else was nominated in that category (Best Quotes of 03)??

None other than Bill Oreilly for his famous "SHUT UP(s)" to Al Franken.

Go VH1!!!!!

5. I've noticed that Viacom seems to have decided
that the VH-1 franchise will be allowed to occasionally cater to those of us who aren't ever likely to worship Bu$h. We don't watch the main VH-1 channel that often, but we put VH-1 Classic on when we're sitting around in front of the computer because its format is actually superior to any of the 'classic rock' radio stations that come in worth a damn at our house. Granted, VH-1 Classic tends to lean pretty heavily on stuff from the eighties -- but they don't seem to shy away from stuff that clearly was critical to Reagan. And hubby and I were in college and in our early 20s back then, so it's kind of skewed toward us anyway.

I guess they see a market on the left -- and we all know Viacom likes to make a profit. I'm not sure I understand the full motivation with VH-1C, though, because they run no commercials. Granted, it's part of the additional digital cable package here (along with, I believe, a couple of pseudo educational channels and at least one sports channel), but they don't run any commercials other than promos for Viacom shows on VH-1 and MTV, and their own sponsored concert tours.

It's mildly subversive, if a little pathetic, that we get thrown a bone now and then by VH-1 or Comedy Central (who will occasionally play a Bill Hicks or Janeane Garofalo special, and of course broadcast The Daily Show). Guess in Crisco Johnny's cultural pogrom, you take what you can get!

7. Bush spoofs galore!
Also... Bush was spoofed on his landing on the aircraft carrier, played by the black comedian D.L. Hughley. Complete with stock-stuffed fake manhood. It was hilarious! :D

There was a lot of Bush bashing, with one of the BIG 03 mistakes being Iraq, Iraq, Iraq... can't remember all the Bush bashing quips but if you get a chance to catch this show it will make you feel as good as when Michael Moore spoke of our "ficticious president" at the oscars.

I don't normally watch VH1 (I stumbled across this show today, trying to take it easy with a bad cold)... but I'm definately a VH1 fan now!

Here's a website with show times, don't miss it!
