A few years ago my wife played in a Nashville group called The Starlings. They split ways when her car broke down on the way to their big outdoor gig. Oh well. Before that, she did some duet work, session work, and writing. To survive, she was cashier at the Pancake Pantry. You know the routine.

Seriously, this town is so full of fundies I had to quit working at a job where I had to talk to the public, because EVERYDAY (I am not exhaggerating) there'd be some over-friendly fundy coming into my store, trying to convert me, usually saying shit like, "what church do you go to around here?' or "Have you heard the good news?" or "Are you feeling lost?" EVERY DAY. Their churches command these guys to go out and convert people to Christianity. It's disgusting. I guess if they hit a certain tally, they get a toaster or something.

I'm leaving Nashville very soon. I'm moving to Chicago in February, cuz Nashville can be incredibly oppresive if you're an atheist, and really awful if you're an atheist AND a struggling rock musician.
