Just called the cops on my upstairs neighbors for the 4th time in a month

In less than a month, actually. This time, the Lockhorns woke me up with their goddamned fighting, which means I get to go to work tired today!

When I write the rent check later this week, I'm going to include a note to the effect of, "Get those Neanderthals off my ceiling or I'm moving out of here."

6. If you can't work out your problems without screaming and yelling...
Edited on Mon Dec-01-03 10:57 AM by thom1102
then absolutely fuck your marriage. NightTrain pays his rent and has the right to expect a certain level of peace and quiet, and especially has the right to a decent night's sleep. PS- My neighbor has an apartment available in West Hartford... It isn't great, but the neighborhood is nice and the other tenants in the house are both single professionals.

9. Good times and Bad is now redefined as
"until you start yelling"

pathetic.

10. LOL!
Now be honest, Dean, if they were making, shall we say, the "other" kind of noises couples make, would it have still been as bad?

12. Divorce...
If two violent people get a divorce that will not make them less violent or better people, they'll just find new people to push around. Yelling cruel things at someone is abuse just as much as hitting someone is, and it won't stop until the people change.

17. Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind!

Thankfully, both the superintendent and the building manager are well aware of the situation. I can only hope they've started the eviction process against those pieces of white shit.

11. Hotline
Maybe you should call an abuse hotline since the cops do not seem to be much help. Abuse is a very serious matter. The tenants are endangering more than each other. No one should get use to hearing yelling and you are doing the right thing by contacting the police, the tenants getting help is the solution.

You aren't getting sleep, but what about the emotional abuse the people upstairs are putting each other through? There's always another night to sleep for you, but for them the scars they are causing each other will last forever. And even though they don't say thanks for calling the cops, in the long run you are helping them.

I see someone brought up divorce...telling them to get a divorce might make the situation more explosive.

13. Who gives a rat's ass?
NightTrain just wants some uninterrupted sleep.

Mr. and Mrs. Horrible can solve their own problems(or not).

14. LOL!
My, what a compassionate, caring soul! But I do know what you mean, sometimes you don't want to solve all their problems, you just want some peace and quiet yourselves.

19. This is the only part of the whole right wing "Personal Responsibility"
crap that I agree with. They are both adults and are responsible for their decisions to stay with each other, and are both responsible for the consequences of their actions.

The abuser runs the risk of being caught, sentenced and sent to jail (or that the abused exacts their revenge ala Farrah Fawcet in the Burning Bed).

The abused racks up the black eyes, broken bones, emotional scars, or worse.

But they are the ones who need to decide not to be together anymore.

18. What really bothers me is that they have a little boy.

Having been rased by parents who'd spend hours on end screaming and throwing things at each other, I can well imagine the kind of neurotic that poor child will grow up to be!
