3. Alpha King Ale from Three Floyds Brewery

The nectar of the gods.

A powerful (high alcohol/sg), strongly hopped with flowery American hops, bronze red version of what the Gods and Goddesses must drink.

Good old Pete's Wicked is a strong second contender any day. Avalanche Ale also excellent.

As guess you can tell I'm a hophead. Anybody with real hops knowledge who can tell me what gives Pete's Wicked that almost peppery tang?

That was damn good. All the kids there were telling us that their city had the best beer in the world and we had to try it. Well, I sure the heck tried a few just to make sure they weren't lying. Wish I had more details, been a long time though.

11. I love Boulevard Ale (Kansas City Brewing Company)

They make an excellent holiday ale (Nutcracker Ale), a good wheat beer, and a fine porter. I haven't had any since I left Nebraska since they don't sell it in my area.

Salt Lake Brewing company also makes some fine ales. Captain Bastard's Stout is one of them. Hophead Red is another. Good stuff.

Goddammit- now I am thirsty!

On edit- oops, how could I forget Guiness? My usual beer now is Amstel Light since I am trying (in vain) to lose weight. Amstel Light is a full-bodied fine tasting lager.

21. Boulevard's Nutcracker Ale isn't over-flavored with

seasonings like so many other seasonal ales. It has a very subtle spice but nothing too offensive.

I'm not a big time beer drinker but I like many of the microbrews. I really enjoy the various seasonal Sam Adams beers as well. Out of the more commercial beers in fact, I prefer Sam Adams, Tecate (with lime) and Modelo Negro.

19. Boy, There's A Long List

There used to be a place about 15 or 20 miles from my house that sold 740 different brands of beer. They sold them by the bottle and you could get a twelve pack of 12 different kinds of beer.

They had a list/score sheet so you could nix the ones you wouldn't get again and mark those you would.

The idiot son ran the joint into the ground couple years ago (too grand his plans, too voracious his coke appetite) so, it's gone now.

But, i must have had at least 50 i thought we're absolutely great.

To keep this simple, though:

As for the brand, I'm partial to both Anchor Steam and Sierra Nevada.
