I STILL miss George (1943-2001)

His passing today two years ago (12/1/01) came at a time when I thought I was getting over Marie's passing. I guess God(dess) needed a good lead guitarist.

"All Things Must Pass" is pretty much perfection the entire way through. If the rendition of "Isn't It A Pity" on the "Concert For George" doesn't make you want to cry, you have no soul. :)

It's really not fair - I lose my favorite driver (Dale Earnhardt Sr), my soul mate (Marie) and my favorite Beatle in 2001.

7. I got a George story about when he was dying to make you feel better...

A musician friend came to visit him in the hospital and found George in bed, PRETENDING to be weak and near death. George motioned for him to come close and when he did, Georege whipped off his gown, screaming, revealing his gross pin cushioned body with tubes everywhere. They both had a laugh. George just wanted to make his buddy feel at ease, wanted him to know that he knew there was so much more to life and he didnt want his friends to be sad for him, that he had a great life. I heard all he wanted to to at the end was sit around and sing beatle songs with his mates... Gosh, I love that guy... And his solo music is vastly underrated.. My buddy just made me a collection of his b sides.

If you get a chance, listen to Section 4. The rare track is John Entwistle singing "Here Comes the Sun." I had to double-check, he sounds a LOT like George. It's off of "Songs From The Material World: A Tribute To George Harrison".

One of the few things that makes me smile is Marie getting to hear George and John.

Any video that I've watched of his solo / Beatles songs, I notice that they never seem to focus on George. Even in "All You Need is Love", just as he starts his solo, they cut to the orchestra!

Even though most people do not like his Indian style music, it's very comforting. I just finished listening to "The Inner Light" and am blown away how peaceful it sounds.

Was "Here Comes the Sun" from the Concert in Japan.

First time in a while (for me) that I was bawling before I got out of bed.

I just think it's another kick in the netherlands that God(dess) wanted to give me.

As long as the songs are there. My band plays three of his songs on a regular basis, and things like that keep him alive.

I bookmarked it a long time ago. Somewhere on it is an interview session he did on line where people could send him questions. George surprisingly wasn't into the net, but someone convinced him to do it. It shows what a great sense of humor he had.

The wrong two Beatles are dead. John and George are gone, and we're stuck with Paul, who hasn't been relevant or meaningful or even very good since about 1971, and Ringo, who is, well, Ringo.

Anyway, I really miss George, too. There was something great and comforting about living in a world with such a prolific spirit. The day he died, I remember feeling the exact way I did when I heard of John's death - that mankind had lost a great world citizen...
