1. Many reasons did it have a fan? |
|
Or there may be a fuse in the unit.Did you throw a breaker in your house? Unplug the heater let it sit for a couple of minutes and then try again sometimes they have a reset and that will do it.

The breaker in my house didn't go, just the heater. I'll try unplugging it.

23. Did unplugging it help? |
|
My space heaters fan motor started to go to heck and that overheated the unit and made it shut off.I ended up getting a new one.

The thermostat should reset, if the heater simply got too hot... |
|
If it does not it may need repair. The fan blower or thermostat may have malfunctioned, either of which would render the heater unsafe for use.

14. As BikeWriter said, try letting it sit unplugged |
|
It is one of the few "movable" parts on a space heater and sometimes they just wear out. When you do plug it back in, try adjusting the thermostat while listening for the "clicking" sound as you pass the current temp.
Possbile that it was a short in the heating coil but in that case it prolly would have blown its own fuse or tripped your house breaker. The other possiblity is the opposite of a short and that's an open. In that case, there really is nothing you can do short of getting it serviced.
Hope you are staying warm.

5. Sweety, it is probably electric, right? |
|
If so, the breaker may have kicked off. Please be very careful if you have warm cords or other evidence of an overloaded circuit.

8. my heater has a reset button |
|
if you accidentally tip it over it goes off and then you have to hit the reset button to get it to come back on.

9. Mine goes off if you tip it over |
|
but you just need to right it, and it starts again. There is a reset button by the plug, but it doesn't seem to work. I think maybe I had it on too long.

19. Tip it over, then tip it back. |
|
Sometimes they think they are tipsy and need reminding. sort of like turning the computer off and back on when it acts up.

Sorry but some of these things are just pieces of crap, you could try cleaning it real good (UNPLUGGED) sometimes dust can get between electric contacters and shut things down. Also did it tip over? Some have anti-tip safty switches. My favorites are the ones with oil in them that look like old fashioned radiators - but NEVER run them on high - I had one melt its cord and don't trust them using that much juice.

18. Maybe try giveing it a good vacuuming or blow the dust out |
|
those fans tend to draw a lot of lint and dust into the heaters. If you are at all mechanical you can take the screen off and take apart anything else you can get to and use q-tips to try and clean good - while looking for burn spots or melted plastic bits.
Not sure what you have, but if it was under 100 bucks it is probably not reparable. Down is good though! Get that blanket on.
