1. I still don't know what it is.
Can you describe it?

2. It's a modified low carb diet.... relying on healthier lean protein
monounsaturated and other healthier fats in moderation, and carbs with low glycemic indices so that they don't raise blood insulin dramatically. Sort of a cross between a healthier form of Atkins and Sugar Buster. Both SB and SB were developed by cardiologists.

Here's an article from prevention mag on it:

I've lost weight in the past on low carb combined with exercise. I plan to go back to this again. The first two weeks of South Beach apparently restrict milk products dramatically, so that's a little tough for me-- no lattes. But I do know that I have to be careful with carbs, so it makes sense to me.

BTW, supposedly the Clintons have both lost quite a bit on SOuth Beach.

3. Interesting, thanks.
I'm doing OK maintaining close to my ideal weight by just cutting out the excess (avoiding fries, no cheese on sandwiches, light salad dressing on the side, etc.) and exercising. But it's nice to know there is a more carb-friendly version of Atkins out there.
