Susan Blackmore revised and extended the "meme" meme in The Meme Machine, by my lights the best ego-crusher of a book since Beyond Freedom and Dignity by B.F. Skinner.

I was just splicing the concept of the selfish gene with the concept of the meme. Clearly the splicing does not constitute a selfish meme. Nor will it, if it depends on this post.
