"Which exit do I take?"
"Traction Avenue."
"That'll take me downtown. I take Seventh, don't I?"
"Don't take Seventh!"
"Great, we missed it!"
"You asked me how to get there and I told you. Exit at Traction!"
"That'll take me downtown!"
"He's coming up! Get in the right lane! Signal!"
"Not Traction!"
"You're gonna miss it!"

I had that fight with my SO this weekend, almost word-for-word (just substitute relevant Milwaukee landmarks).

Does this mean some arguments are universal, or we've seen "The Incredibles" (20 minutes at a time, twice a day, every weekend, per kiddo's request, while she gets nebulized) way too many times?

2. We had that fight on the roadtrip from hell
known as "Family Vacation 2005." Because surely my hubby knows better than mapquest how to navigate in states he's never been to before.

I feel your pain. ;)

4. Yeah....No, that's marriage.
I can't tell you how many times I've had conversations that went similiarly to that...

Take a left at the next street.
I can't that's a one way.
It's not, take a left.
Don't I have to go up two more blocks?
No, turn here. Here. HERE.
Hey, I guess I could have turned there huh?
Yeah that's what I said, turn there.
I thought it was one way.
I told you it wasn't one way.
Yeah I know but I thought that it was.
Well now we have to get over to the right lane and turn right up here so we can circle back.
Shouldn't I turn left instead of right.
No turn right, merge over, you're clear.
But, should I take the left up here and then I can just circle back that way.
You're clear, merge right...

9. Oh, lord, we did, didn't we...
I guess some things are universal.

Well, except before, there was no child singing "Crashride" by the Church in the back seat. That adds an interesting dimension.

10. I do not think it is universal
My dad says that mom is his navigator. She reads the map while he drives. Which is not to say we do not have our problems. In both Kansas City and Minneapolis we kept missing turns and crossing the river "welcome to Kansas" "welcome to Missouri" "welcome to Kansas".

I, for one, would appreciate having someone else looking for signs and roadmarks while I watched the road and the traffic. Driving alone I am always going slow looking for "hidden blvd" where I am supposed to turn. Hoping for a red light so I can look at a map. (and when you want to look at a map, the red lights never last long enough).

13. in our family
it's more of the husband can't get the overhead signs, thinks they are too imprecise.

So it's me yelling, yes, this lane. This lane. The one we are in. Can't you see the sign overhead?

:eyes:

I used to be able to quote Toy Story, word for word. What does that tell ya.
