How dare they:eyes:

and yet another young "brilliant, educated, sweet, nice, beautiful, savvy..etc".. goes barhopping alone in the Bowery and ends up dead...

Don't need CSI to figure this one out..
:sarcasm:

now to be serious for the young women here..

Please do not stay behind when your friends leave.. GO with them.. a drunk woman alone is always a potential target for weirdos..and once drunk or "buzzed", your judgement IS impaired..

1. Actually, Rita lead with that story last night.
So yes. Yes she does. She showed us a piece of a blanket in case someone can recognize it and lead the cops to the suspect.

2. Look, I feel sorry for her parents and all but...
…what is crap like this doing on the news?

We've got a failing war based on a failed ideology that is making the whole world a heck of a lot more dangerous and bankrupting the national treasury. We've got an administration determined to destroy American honor for all time. Our American tradition of democracy is being dismantled before our very eyes. Members of the current administration are openly engaging in acts of treason.

With all this going on, why the @$#%& are we getting so many "news" stories about missing rich white women?

The press can go fuck itself.

3. Cheap to cover and it gets ratings
An investigative story on Iraq is incredibly expensive and may not pay off for as long in ratings.

4. It's precisely this kind of crap that caused me to give up on...
…the American "press."

I can no longer see any distinction between American media and supermarket tabloids, and the PIPA report shows that they're about as informative. Thank goodness we can use the Internet to read newspapers from countries that still have a free press.

5. Yep
The US media has turned into nothing more than morbid entertainment for those who don't want to deal with the reality that is reeking havoc on this world. The whole bread and circus thing. Meanwhile Rome burns.

6. I just heard about what happened to this poor woman.
I'm tense and almost shaking because I'm so upset. How could people do this to someone.

The paper says it had to be at least two people (because someone had to drive the car). I have a hard time imagining one person being sick and crazy enough to do this, but two? That means somebody helped...

I'm going to be sick.

I keep imagining what her final hour must have been like. I'm going to be sick.

7. I know what you mean..
The only thing one can hope is that they knocked her unconscious first..

The thing that troubles me so much in these cases is how seemingly smart young women put themselves in jeopardy by drinking alone with strangers..

These people probably have locks on their locks on their apartment doors, stay in doorman-ed buildings, security locks on their cars, and then they have a serious lapse in judgement by getting drunk near a psycopath (or two)..

These psychos look like everyone else..They are NOT creepy like in the old movies..

I always told my sons.. DRINK with people you KNOW and trust..and NEVER ride with anyone who's drinking, no matter how much you trust them..

8. It is implied, but not stated
that she was been concious while they tortured her... x(

I'm sure they have ways of knowing. I don't want to know how.

I felt this same way right after Katrina. I kept imagining what it must have been like fighting to live in that hurricane, and loosing...

I think that's why I've always been a liberal. I can't imagine that people hear about horrible things and don't feel anything. To be a neo-con you need to not care. How can anyone not care?

The history of Slavery was a hard thing to learn about as a kid. The history of the labor movement, colonialization and the history of all the worlds empires... So much of history hurts like hell. How can anyone not care and not feel a need to make things better?

I'm going off topic because I'm upset. Sorry. I'm just sick to my stomach.

Be well, everyone. Be safe.
