1. I do not wish to be associated with ANY human nation
And when my alien bretheren start the invasion, you will wish you were of my people!

If you don't mind a word of advice: stock up on dill pickles and lace doilies. Don't say I didn't warn you!

10. Ehhhhhh....
I love the Irish people, but politically they manage to combine the worst elements of conservatism and liberalism. Abortion is illegal and you can't smoke anywhere. Meh! Plus the food is awful… except for the curry fries. I can't get enough of those curry fries!

20. So you really like guilt and bland food & want little self-esteem?
My beloved mother believes that pepper is about as exotic as anyone should ever get in the kitchen (and even pepper is a little too racy for her).

And the Irish-American guys I know would choose a basketball game over sex any day. Not the most romantic ethnicity in the world, which is why I opted for Italians, while my Italian girlfriends rolled their eyes and picked Irish men, who didn't boss them around so much.

As far as self-esteem, I went to a predominantly Jewish public high school, and turned in my college application essay, and got called into the guidance counselor's office (who had an Irish last name). He pulled out my essay and laughed. "Without even looking, I can tell which of these essays came from students with Irish names!" He proceeded to tell me that a college application isn't the time to be modest and downplay one's achievements, and suggested that I get one of my Jewish friends to help me with the application.

25. Not angry - actually delighted to find our food could have zing!
It wasn't my mom's fault - how would my she know - that's how they cooked in her familiy. When I finally got out in the world and had some spicy food, it was a revelation!

As for Irish guys, I had plenty as friends but never dated one -- this is just based on reports from my friends in the field, and observations of my own Irish family! My experiences with men, (mostly Italians), have been pretty good ones (except when their mothers found out I was Irish, and assumed their sons would never have another decent meal, which wasn't exactly that far off the mark)

what does "couldn't be assed" mean?

28. Did I mention curry fries? Yum.
A friend of mine visited Ireland a few years back (odd choice given that he's of Scottish descent).

Anyway, despite the innate fear of spices that seems to plague all four nations of the British Isles (and my hapless Scandinavian ancestors), curry is quite popular thanks to England's empire nonsense. Anyway, when my buddy visited Ireland, there was an odd dish that was all the rage in the pubs he went to: curry fries. It was curry sauce (no meat or veggies in it) poured over french fries. I've made it at home (with a bit of onion… couldn't resist), and it is indeed yummeh!

18. At one time Swedish.
I preferred their social democracy. Later, I learned about New Zealand (and the temps are warmer) but migrating is easier said than done. At least I tried.

I wouldn't have balked though with Dutch, French, Norwegian, Australian or Danish.

31. Hmm... Could I be from another planet? Do fictional races count?
I am a total Stargate geek... If I could be absolutely anything at all, I think I would want to be one of the Nox...

But if I had to be from Earth... I think I would want to be Indian (dot, not feathers).

Nominally Catholic, but they know how to party. Their Carnaval makes our Mardi Gras look like a church picnic.

Thai or Balinese would be nice too.
