Her husband had a mild heart attack over the weekend. Believe it or not, that is not the bad news. They found a tumor on his lung during his hospital visit, and told him he should be stable enough for them to do something about it in six weeks. I really hope it is benign, but considering he's a long-time smoker, that may be wishful thinking. This is crushing. He's a super-nice guy, and has made my sister-in-law nothing but happy since they've been together. :(

IF he hadn't had the heart attack, then the tumor would have silently progressed....

And that would not have been a good thing at all......

I'm hoping for the best outcome possible. Hope he stops smoking!

6. I had a boss that had the exact same experience!

in 1988. It saved his life. If they can "do something about it" in 6 weeks, it sounds like they'll excise it. It sucks but it ain't over--not by a long shot!

On the positive side, they DID find the tumor now. I know it's a lot for all involved to go through, but better to get the diagnosis now than later.

Sorry if I sound Pollyanna-ish. But a woman I grew up with was hit by a car several months back and they discovered her lung tumor (malignant) while checking her out for injuries. And she had only cuts and bruises. I hear that she is doing well now and looks at getting hit by the car as a lifesaver.
