I touch the terminals to my tongue just long enough to determine that the battery holds charge. Then I plug it into the beeping smoke detector.

When I was a kid, I would pick a strand of tall grass and touch a barbed wire fence (a farm fence, not a prison-level of barbed wire) with it. It was kind of cool to feel the jolt go through my hand and wrist. I doubt I would do it now, though.
