Mmmm.....tofu.
Now I know why I would prefer to shoot and gather my own food.

http://www.fda.gov/foi/warning_letters/g4758d.htm

And so, if one video tape of one slaughterhouse decries the whole beef industry, this warning letter pretty much says processed soy is crapola.

1. Yuck....tofu.
The consistency throws me. I really am more of a 'texture' eater than a taste one. I know, I know, sounds weird.

19. That makes sense to me
and that's why I love tofu.
I don't eat meat because of the texture, it's icky.

2. Tofu can be OK if it's in something,
but if it's all by itself it tastes like your own tongue.

3. am I the only one here who loves tofu?
I crave tofu spring rolls from Whole Foods all the time. I love tofu in miso soup and who doesn't love breaded and fried tofu? I mean really people! Tofu is so misunderstood. :(

6. I *heart* tofu
It just has to be prepared well, because badly prepared tofu is nasty.

7. It can be delicious
There's a Vietnamese restaurant here in town that I go to pretty regularly that makes tofu stir-fried in lemongrass. It's a 40-minute drive for me to get there, but it's worth it! :9

8. Most food production / processing
is enough to turn you into a non-eater. That's why you say Grace - please help this food not kill me.

12. Mrs. Dave and I are trying to go primitive,
eat only what we can do for ourselves.

We are stuck with processed cheese, though. We get eggs from a local farmer, organically fed and free ranging chickens...

Grilled up some slabs of tofu with a sesame oil dressing, garlic and mushrooms, then wrapped them up in tortillas with tomatoes, rocket and avocado. Yum!!

14. I'm vegan, and I loathe tofu...
But just tofu--I don't mind a lot of other soy-based products.

Tofu has an icky texture, I can't get my head around it.

21. The thing is, pretty much anything that has tofu in it can...
just be made without the tofu, lol. Except in baking, and whenever a recipe calls for tofu in my house it ends us as a dismal and disgusting failure.

But eh, whatcha gonne do?

22. i marinate tofu in sesame teriyaki sauce and then stir fry it, it's yummy
plus my daughter will eat it and she's not a big fan of meat, infact she won't red meat at all so tofu has been a big help.
