Neurotic cat night...
Both cats are off their nuts tonight, chattering, chasing, reaching up and patting us (we have a counter-height table and corresponding chairs) then running away, and attacking anything that moves.

One is supposed to be taking fat supplements to improve his coat and shedding issues, but he won't touch any of the options we've given him (no tuna in oil, no bacon fat, no roast beef drippings, no chicken drippings...). The prescription fat supplements are right out of the question. Of course, the other one is More Than Happy to help him with that problem of being forced to eat people food.

They've both been chatterboxes today, grumbling about everything and limp-dick consulting every time I turn around. Both cats were famously silent until about three years ago, when our third cat died. Since then, they've both become very vocal. But today it's been a constant stream; I'm surprised they're not both hoarse.

And we have new slipcovers on the furniture... and these go all the way to the floor, meaning there are Two New! and Improved! Exciting hiding places under the armchairs. My ankles are getting quite battered; one of them leaps out at me every time I walk by a chair, and they're attacking each other with Ninja Kitty Rolls when they aren't attacking me.

Anyone want to slightly used, middle-aged cats who are going through their second kittenhoods? I need a break!

2. I do love them....
But I'm starting to understand how my sisters feel with their kids and I really understand why they would both love for Auntie Pcat to come out to their states and spend a couple weeks!

If this is what parenting is like, I'm lobbying harder for a tubal!

And we are never, ever, ever getting a pair of kittens.

3. May I add an odd cat story?
Our 18 year old Siamese, Coco, has been much friendlier since our other cat died (we think she was very intimidated). She was actually sitting with my three children and me while we watched "Animal Precinct" on Animal Planet (yes, it was a couch potato kind of night) and one of the rescued animals was a baby goat that made a heart-wrenching bleating noise. Every time the goat bleated, we all said, "Awwww!" and Coco LOUDLY meowed her weird Siamese meow. This happened five or six times, as if on cue.

I suppose there are any number of explanations for this, but this was a first for her and us.

As far as your Krazy Kats, Politicat, I think they sense Spring in the air. Our dog is suddenly antsy to get outside and chase squirrels. And my kids always start getting "squirrely" around this time of year as well.

4. I never thought of that
"they sense spring is in the air".

When I left home this morning, two of mine were zipping and flipping all over the place.

made me tired just looking at them :)

10. Actually, this was NYC. And the baby goat was rescued from
being the sacrifice for a Santeria relgious ritual. Poor thing was also very sick with a highly communicable disease.

Congratulations to your friend! I really admire the dedication I see on that show.

6. It's a plot.
It is a constant battle to keep them from sleeping all day and rearranging the furniture all night.

7. My husband's office furniture is all on casters...
That's what he wanted.

After the first night of coming in and finding the chair and the laptop table on the other side of his office, he has become VERY careful about closing his door before he goes to bed.

I warned him that 11 pounds of cat doing 20 miles an hour into his chair would make things move, but does the physics minor listen to his Liberal Arts papered wife? No....
