1. Why not just get satellite? |
I only pay $49.00 for 150 channels with DishNetwork.

2. Thats what I pay for Direct TV expanded w/ tivo service. |
Does your basic cable include TIVO? I have a dual line lnb dish that allows me to record one channel and watch another/split screen or record two shows at a time. You might consider a sat system. Don't believe the B.S. that it won't work on cloudy or rainy days. I only lose my signal during heavy thunderstorms (you know the kind- where you unplug your tv for fear of damage).

Thats the only time I lose mine as well. I rarely if ever have a problem with Dish. Plus we get a ton more channels than regular cable :)

5. Call them and see if they can reposition it. |
I never once had an issue with mine going out when it just rains. Heavy storms are another situation though and I think its unavoidable.

8. Something is wrong with your installation. |
You can test your signal using the troubleshooting menu. It should be in the high 90% range. My two lines are 97% and 98%.

9. Time to buy a house then, right? |
I have two dishes on my house, one is the direct Tv and the other is my wildblue satalite internet dish. I hated renting with a passion!

11. Ouch! Silver Springs, MD. |
I used to live around there, right down the road from the naval surface warfare center. If you go north on the same road there are some apartment towers. I left in 88 and prices were high back then! I bought my current home on 15 acres three years ago for 55,000! The home is small (700sqft) and needed work but still a bargin compared to areas like yours!
