Has The GEICO Gecko Always Had The Same British Accent?
Was I not paying close attention before? Or has his accent changed, and become more exaggerated and obvious in the newest series of TV commercials?

The gecko's (new?) accent reminds me a LOT of the Wallace and Gromit characters. His accent also reminds me of the voices used for the animal characters in the new TV show called "Creature Comforts". (BTW: Creature Comforts is from the same folks that did W&G... it's very clever and funny.)

3. More exaggerated
It was originally voiced by Kelsey Grammar.

I still want to see a Progressive van squash that annoying little fucker.

6. No. He's gone downmarket
He used to have a very posh Oxbridge-type accent, but he sounds much more Cockney now.

8. They fired the old gecko
He got pretty demanding in contract negotiations and they let him go, preferring to go with a lesser known gecko. I believe the old gecko has signed to do a reality show.
