Yeah I agree. HEather Cox (boy tell me that doesn't sound like a porn name) struck me as being groomed into that position and I mean that in every way. She wasn't very good but they took her along (if you will remember) as the last pick into the final 24 so that we could have a soul crushing moment of TV with the not-so-attractive girl having to be dissed directly in front of the Barbie doll captain of the Cheerleader squad. At least that is what it looked like to me.

The guys were poseurs. "Sway" :eyes: was a HipdaddyVEGAS wannabe and David was doing an impersonation not really singing.

The other girl was just BLAH! nothing of note.

BTW this guy actually appears to be actually morphing INTO Fred Savage right before our eyes (Paula said he reminded her of Bobby Brady)

Not who I would have picked but none of them belonged in the top 12, definately not the top 6, so it's fine...

Kevin Covais and probably Will Makar are gone next week...Good. Will at least has a cuteness factor, but he just doesn't have the voice....but Kevin? Man...He's terrible. I get that there are 12 year old girls who think he's 'cute' in that harmless way, but just close your eyes when he sings...Simon is right. If you heard him on the radio you'd turn him off. He's nothing compared to people like Chris Daughtery, Taylor Hicks, or Elliot Yamin...and I'm not an Elliot fan. I think he'll be lucky to go top 6...but Kevin Covais? I just don't even get how he made the final 24...his voice is terrible...

Alot will come down to song choice at that level. Experience will pay though and unexpected fuckups will happen and doom people so it gets hard to predcit after that point...Any of them could make final six depending on their performances, which means any of them could flop.

The only thing I would have done differently is put Kevin before David. But David really should have a career as a Sinatra imitator or on broadway - he doesn't have enough of his own personality to be a legitimate star. In fact, I agreed that the lowest three from each group were the worst.

Here who I'd like to see in the top 5:

Girls -

Katharine McPhee (very resonant voice, and for an extra, I have a big crush on her)

Paris Bennett (sassiest vocals here; I was impressed with her ballad voice, too)

Mandisa (most powerful voice here)

Kellie Pickler (country voice with personality. Philly radio station B101 said that Idol's getting to her head - I hope not, because she's sweet)

Lisa Tucker (I like Whitney Houston, and she reminds me of a young Whitney)

Guys -

Ace Young (great vocal range)

Gedeon McKinney (could inject life into R&B radio)

Bucky Covington (to me, he's a neat combo of Alan Jackson and southern rock)

Taylor Hicks (he did very well on the Elton John song, and seems to have a good ear for songs in general)

Chris Daughtry (I don't like Fuel, and I hope he doesn't go into that stale modern rock - but he does seem very seasoned this early)

I hated that Brenna girl. She was totally smug and smirky and full of herself and delighted in making other people around her unhappy. I was really pissed when the judges put her through to the final 24 but not the girl she was making miserable with her antics during Hollywood week. I was so glad to see her go last night I laughed and applauded when she got booted.

They are so different, I can't pick one of them. Mandisa is good, and I think Pickler would have a career without AI, but not as a singer- she needs to be a Kelly with a new Regis. Her and Seacrest could do it! :-) He's getting better this year, much better banter with the judges and esp. Simon. The shirt thing was hilarious on Wed.

I think Ace has the looks, and will probably have a career after Idol, but won't win. He'll make it to the top six at least. Gedeon drives me absolutely batty! He did better this week, but I find him really annoying. Sway spent too much time in falsetto, no one really wants to listen to a whole song or verses in falsetto, esp. from a male voice. At least I don't. But, I thought he was better than Kevin.

Carrie actually made a better album than Bo. During Idol, I thought she grew as a singer, even though her song choices got worse.

We need a new show- one that can do the same with politics. :-) I have yet to be driven to buy and American Idol winner's album- I did get a few downloads of Kelly's, she's just amazing. me up to speed, yes, I do agree with the choices. Except for Sway, who didn't perform well this week, but has done well previously.

I'm not the best judge, since I really hate overwrought singing and Top 40 pop. My daughter started watching Idol during the second season and it's turned into a family activity, especially during the early audition shows.

38. I have to admit, I've not seen any of it this time around -

not even accidentally, which is odd, because in the past I've randomly across it a bunch of times.

But, judging from past experience, I think it's a safe bet to say that no, I don't like any of them.

The only ones with any real spirit of musicianship and artistry have been William Hung and Bo Brice (assuming Bo was the long-haired David Gilmour type in the last go-round, and not the long-haired sunglass-sporting "heavy metal" fuckwad from last go-round).
