Who loves liver?
So there I was describing the chicken-liver pate with apples I was going to make this weekend, when I realized that my coworkers would rather eat roasted fire ants on a stick than touch liver.

2. I prefer that liver still be inside the
living animal it comes from. Of course, I'm a vegan, so that's the opinion you'd expect from me. :)

I hope you enjoy your cooking regardless. To each his/her own. :hi:

4. That sounds good!
I'm an adventurous eater/cook, though. I'd try just about anything once.

Raw liver's kind of gross to work with. (It doesn't stop me if I'm making rumaki or Jewish-style chopped liver, though -- I just grit my teeth and deal.)

5. Love it, but only from organically raised, no meds animals
So I have to pass on it most of the time. Since anything the critter got is often stored in abundance in the liver, no can do for most meat in most markets.

My mom used to make liver and sour cream. It was the ONLY way I would touch sour cream ;)

Rumaki.... mmmmmm

Had a hunter pal (whose skill at gutting & handling I trusted) who made a wonderful soup with liver dumplings. Deer and elk liver

12. I'm told chicken liver is okay
Because chickens nowadays don't live long enough for their livers to accumulate toxins. They raise them for like two months and then off to the grocery. I'm sorry for them but I'll still eat those tasty livers.

I ain't giving up my chicken livers.

8. I like pate, liverwurst, liver pudding
Edited on Fri Mar-03-06 11:48 AM by supernova
and leberkase, a German/Austrian sausage that's pretty close to balogna, but much better.

Liver pudding is a southern concoction with liver and cornmeal, and pepper. That's good.

But no, I don't like liver just to eat liver. It has to be mixed with other things for me to like it.

10. in terms of the meat
I was forced to eat in my childhood, I did not mind liver as much as I did the following: spam, ham, pork chops, steak, and chicken for the 197th time every year. Supposed to be good for my iron deficiency anemia too.

11. WORST. FOOD.EVER!!!
I had to eat that fried curled up crap every Wednesday for 9 years straight in the school I grew up in. Horrid. Then we had prayer meeting afterwards. I used to hate Wednesdays with a passion because of it and I got to associating mind control with liver. To this day, the scent of it makes me ill. Even the word makes me cringe.

17. I love liver.
when my son was little I used to cut the liver into bite size pieces and saute it then add equal parts of water and soy sauce ( the liver had been dredged in flour so the water and soy sauce thickened when added) I'd serve it over rice. He/we called it 'teriyaki' , nothing else, never referred to it as liver, HE LOVED IT!! One day my husband came home and said, oh wow, liver for supper .. great!! my son, said LIVER????????????? LIVER????????????????? I hate liver (4 years old) would NOT eat liver again :(

it's still something I really enjoy.
