Anyone reading a book because it was recommended on DU?
I'm reading "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis because I heard about it here. I'm sure there are a number of folks doing the same thing... have at it then!

2. When I first came I bought Wealth and Democracy based
on another's recommendation. Most of my reading though I haven't gotten from here. I try to read a book every week although I have gotten a bit sloppy about it lately.

I had to buy it and see if it was as bad as it was, I wish you people were a bit more truthful though, it was worse x(

I never make margin notes -- even in books I own!! It's like I'm a neat freak of the printed world. But of the printed world alone... you should see my room....

15. Lucky you
I can only hope it opened your eyes beyond the sheltered life you have lived, and that you now have some insight on the class struggle that is all around you, a struggle that has been going on about as long as man has been on earth. Good luck.

18. "The Bush Dyslexicon" is superb.
Mark Crispin Miller's analysis of Bush was spot-on. He made the case that Bush has some of Richard Nixon's less than admirable character traits. And that should be a BIG cause for worry.

I hope everyone reads "The Bush Dyslexicon"

11. My parents have that book...
I should have grabbed it when I was back for Thanksgiving. :silly:

In the meantime, I'm reading Theodore Dreiser's "An American Tragedy," a long but brilliant read.

16. Also from the Skinner thread
I just finished 'The Cobra Event' by Richard Preston. Wow!
Whoever suggested that book, GOOD call. I would recommend it highly.
Looking forward to reading the book that preceeded it, called 'Hot Zone'. Sure to be a page turner.

I was the one who recommended it on the Skinner thread. It had been suggested to me by The Lone Liberal, another DUer.
