Safari browser question
Cross-posted from the Mac forum, where I got no responses yet...

I'm relatively new to the MAC - I got the new iMac in November - and have gotten frustrated with safari... on just about every webpage, it will start to load and then just stop for a good 30-60 seconds. And, even on the pages where it does load fairly smoothly, it is awfully slow.

I have a nearly 5 year old Dell PC that was not one of their top of the line models when we bought it, yet it is much faster on the internet using IE than the Mac with safari if I switch my DSL cable over to the old PC. (of course, it takes like 15 minutes to boot up when we turn it on...)

We have SBC/Yahoo DSL.

1. Try Firefox or Camino.
I have some trouble with Safari on this computer (an iMac G5 with 2GB of RAM and a corporate T1 conenction).

3. Thanks
I'll try that. Maybe I should try firefox as well.

Safari will also often not let me go to password protected sites (i.e., I tried to register with an online job search service and it would not let me enter a password... even one recommended by the website)

4. That's strange. I use a Mac at work and have both IE and Safari
Safari loads web pages twice as fast as IE.

5. I do believe
that IE stopped upgrading it's browser for Macs several years ago. You can still use them though.

I personally don't like Safari. I use Firefox.

6. Safari
Well, after many months, I think the problem with my Mac losing its Internet connection in Safari/Mail/other Apple Internet apps (although not always Internet Explorer) is resolved. I've replaced my SpeedStream 5660 ADSL router with a new Zoom ADSL X5 modem/router. Since I installed this router last Friday, my iMac's Internet connection has been rock solid, so I've turned everything back on, including IP version 6 and my iDisk. Hopefully, this is the conclusion of a very frustrating issue. :)

7. Interesting
I wonder if I call up SBC if they'll replace my speedstream DSL modem/router or whatever you call it?
