Televangelist Robertson Ousted From Religious Group

Pat Robertson, arguably the nation's foremost televangelist, has been dumped from the board of directors of the National Religious Broadcasters Assn. In a surprise vote -- the organization once named him Christian Broadcaster of the Year -- Robertson failed to receive enough votes for re-election to the board. In an interview with the Washington Post, NRB President Frank Wright said that "there was broad dismay with some of Pat's comments and a feeling they were not helpful to Christian broadcasters in general." In January, Robertson said on his 700 Club broadcast, which airs on the ABC Family Channel, that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was an act of God meted out to punish him for advocating a pull-out from the Gaza Strip. Last August, he called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Robertson's daily audience for the 700 Club averages 800,000.

10. How can a so called man of God have so much anger?
Fundies of every religion are truly frightening.

I remember an article a couple years back about black employees of the Christian Coalition being made to use a seperate break area and restroom in the headquarters. How very Christian of them.

11. i think it's a function of just sitting on your ass and having scads of...
money just keep rolling in regardless of how goofy you act. you'd have to soon believe that it was you & your thoughts that got you there and not so much the broken hearts of others yearning to belong to a fellowship is my thought. soon, the ill-formed preacher thinks his words are godly and the rest just slides off the map where the monsters are, again imo; vindictive fire & brimstone can't be far away

that's part of what i think

12. I see it with ones with money, and without.
It seems most folks have an overwhelming need to believe that their beliefs are right. That, and that anyone who doesn't believe the same is wrong. The serious Bush apologists are like this. They make excuse after excuse for him, not realizing how ridiculous it sounds that they continue to defend him after some of the crazy shit he has done.

With Clinton, it was sperm on a dress and a weird real estate deal, none of which really had anything to do with his presidency. I can't even keep track of all the crap Bush had his hands in. It is like he is a dog, and has to piss on everything to make it his.

13. there may well be some lovely fundies out there somewhere as well...
and...i suppose there is a genetic predisposition to violence to be explored. but as to whether someone, anyone, sits there one week presuming loving the entire world, to then the next week have in hand a system of rewards, like doggy treats, you dole out to they "you" consider righteous; evolving then further into a tract of quasi justifiable behaviors that dispense with ever greater prejudice those rewards, those jibes, those gifts of heaven & promise of hell

that's more the template i am referring to. the 'how it is' that happens?

15. How can a man be born on the same exact day as Stephen Sondheim,
and yet be responsible for so much ugliness in the world?
