Our old friend Desmond stayed with us for a couple of days.
He's Irish, long a naturalized U.S. citizen, and a recently retired ER physician.

As the Irish say, "He likes his jar."
As do I.

He and I were a bit up into the whiskey last night. We were getting into a pretty deep discussion about the meaning of life and why we're here and such.

He fixed me with a meaningful stare.
"Just remember, old friend. Life itself is an always terminal, sexually transmitted, disease."
