Question: Is there such a thing as Complete Color-Blindness??

Yes..I know about the Green-Red and a few of the other types but is
it possible for a Human to see everything in just Black and White.
Just wondering..

From what I've read about it. I did some reading up on it after meeting my husband, who is colorblind. It's fascinating to think some people see thins so differently. I'd love to know what the world looks like to people who are colorblind.

2. I believe the condition called "achromatopsia" fits that description

People see the world in grays. This Norwegian scientist has it.

p.s. Oliver Sacks wrote a book called "The Island of the Colourblind", which discusses it, among other things. It's pretty rare, but there are some locations where, due to chance and inbreeding, it's a bit more common. Pingelap, the island he visits, is in the Pacific -- he later went there and interviewed some of the residents for a science documentary. (For the show, they also manipulated some of the footage to show what the world might look like to someone who sees it that way.)

On a similar thought..

Anyone know why Traffic Lights always have Red on the Bottom??
Hint: It came about when Traffic lights "Hung" over Roadways.

Mine have always had red on the top. We even learned that in school.

6. I have a friend who can only see the color orange

He likes everything to be orange because he says every color looks the same except orange. I can't help but wonder if orange actually looks orange to him or if it looks different in some other way. How would he know?

He has some very interesting views on the subject, very interesting to compare notes with him.

btw, if you want to kinda see what it's like, pay attention the next time you're in a very dimly lit room. If you look carefully, you'll notice that you can't see any color, just shades of gray.

9. yes a co-worker had it

he was diagnosed as having a severe form of green/red color blindness but he could not really see any color and so his wife purchased all of his clothes in shades of brown so that he could never clash, since any shade of brown goes w. any other shade of brown
