Did guys wear BOXERS in the 80s?
Pants were so tight, it seems like they would have bunched up.

1. I know I was a bikini guy
until the late nineties.Maybe it was just age.As I get older though my old pants seem to be getting tighter but I have no problems with the bixers bunching.

Tighty Whiteys through the seventies and eighties and then in maybe 88-89 made the switch over to boxers and have never been back.

6. In the late 80s, yes
I started wearing them in 1988 under Levis 501 jeans. I know the exact date because I got my first real girlfriend that year.

7. Some did
but I think they were considered "old man" underwear until the late 80s/early 90s. Before that, tighty whities and bikini briefs were the thing.

8. I wore bikini briefs
up until i got lets say Chunky.
then i switched to boxer briefs.
But today i went to Target and purchased
low rise briefs because I have lost enough lbs to wear them again.

9. I'm curious about this too - nowadays, no one wears briefs...
... at least at my age (20).

I assume briefs must have been much more popular in the '70s and '80s than they are today. Now you find that fashionable clothing stores don't even sell briefs, and I remember from middle school and h.s. that by 9th grade, EVERYBODY wore boxers or at least boxer-briefs.

In truth, it seems like briefs have pretty much been replaced by boxer briefs by most guys my age. They're what I usually wear, although I wear boxers too.

11. Boxers have been around for a long time
I remember them from the 1950s. Whenever there was a sight gag on a TV variety show where a guy's pants felll down, he was always wearing boxers.

12. I know they were around
My dad wore them at the time.

They just don't seem like they would have gone with early 80s fashion.

13. Early 1980s pants were not particularly tight compared to 1960s pants
One joke at the time was that teenage boys' pants came in three styles: tight, skin graft, and intravenous.

16. I did. I also wore them in the 1990's.
My wife bought me a pair in the 1980's. They were pink. It was part of her magnificient sense of humor.

In the 1990's she asked me to start wearing them again when we were trying to conceive children, because she believed - with some justification - that it made conception easier. I have no idea about the extent to which the boxers were involved, but we have two boys.

In any case, I've never been one for tight clothes, and for good reason to. In my case "butt ugly" has a special meaning.
