Because he IS Batman.

That said, if I get round to seeing it I think that I'd be drooling whilst watching Christian Bale enough for him to have a fighting chance.

"All-Star Batman & Robin" is bad self-parody, and the upcoming "Holy Terror, Batman!" has such a horrendous premise that I seriously have to wonder about the man's sanity.

The Dark Knight sequel alone was enough to disillusion me, but that doesn't change the fact that Dark Knight is one of the best works to come out of the U.S. comic book industry.

If I never see another neon set I'll be happy. George Clooney was never given a chance. He had to share the stage with Arnold Schwartzenegers Mr. Freeze, Uma Thruman's Poison Ivy, Chris O'donnel's Robin, and Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl...plus a crappy script, and director...

George might have done good in a better film, and in the few moments he was allowed to be Batman he was good...but alas

14. After 'Begins' came out, I could see where Keaton came up short.

His Batman was very dry and expressionless. None of the anger and emotion on his face was present.

Thats only one nitpick I have. I'm a strong (geek) Batman Begins advocate. I want EVERYBODY to see it.

... he was pretty "decrepit paunchy-white guy" looking in 'White Noise'.

He probably wouldn't have been able to carry the "series" for more than a couple movies.

Always a MK fan. After all the grief he got before the first Batman was released by people saying he was going to be a rotten Batman, I think fans owe him a huge apology. He might not have been perfect, but he certainly proved he could do it.

24. Kevin Conroy trounces them all

The first couple seasons of "Batman: The Animated Series" remains the definitive interpretation, and Conroy was its greatest asset, lending the protagonist a tortured humanism that still haunts.

Still, Christian Bale may very well supplant my preference when he squares off against the Clown Prince. So long as Nolan and Goyer stay on board, it will be some sight to see.

Not to mention, that the *real* Paul Allen owns the local basketball team and has been advised to sell it due to financial losses on it. If he does, the team (and all the locally generated business) could be moved to another city. Every time the story crops up on the news they always have disgruntled basketball fans complaining.

They reissued the DVD (in June 2005, for some reason...;)) with separate commentaries by the director and the screenwriter. They mention that in the book, the character's name is Paul Owen, but there was a real Paul Owen in Manhattan and he wanted a huge amount of money for the use of his name; so they picked a name that sounded close enough and wasn't listed in the Manhattan phone book-- Paul Allen. They really had no idea until a reporter at a press conference asked them about it...

It's one of my favorite films though I haven't watched it enough to quote huge passages of dialogue...yet...:D

The murder spree at the end, where we get a sort of "Bateman's-eye" view starting with "Feed Me a Stray Cat" to the phone confession is just spectacular in it's surreal brutality. Once again, it's horrible, but I find myself laughing at just the sheer over-the-topness of it.

but Keaton was still my favorite. Plus, I felt that that Batman was an overall better film than Batman Begins.

Don't get me wrong, Batman Begins was great, a million times better than any crap by Shumaker and better than the second Batman (the one with the Penguin and Catwoman), but the problem with Begins to me was that it didn't feel consistant. It started off great and was through most of the film but near the end I felt it started running out of gas.

Still a good film though and I'm sure Bale will do great in a sequel which I'd still be interested in seeing.

Batman Begins was exceptional. Keaton did the best he could with what he had, but was overshadowed by Nicholson in the first one, and the second butchered the Penguin character and veered off into Burton-land. Kilmer and Clooney never had a fair chance thanks to Schumacher taking the series back to 60's camp. Bat-card for cryin' out loud.
