A few pictures of the big night
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 08:37 AM by MissMillie
Last night was the military ball. It was a lovely evening. The kids looked so terrific and really had a marvelous time. I think the only low point for me was being asked to toast * (for the record, while the others said "here, here!" I said "good riddance!").

The young men are so well behaved. All of us moms were constantly being asked by these young men to dance. I did not spend much time sitting. (Now, moms... it's time to teach your sons to dance!)

Anyway, here are a few shots.

My son and I before leaving the school

My son and I with the two Naval Science instructors (I've tried 5 times to make this one smaller, but it just won't shrink)

My son w/ his date

2. Have you ever heard "spittin' image?"
As in, "Your son is the spittin' image of you?"

My god, you two favor so much!

You look gorgeous in your gown. I'm so glad that you went. (Were there any good-lookin' single guys there? :D )

11. Not one single guy over the age of 19.
Oh well.

Personally, I think my son looks like my twin sister... :silly:

Thank you for your kind words.

4. I'm so glad you went.
I was wondering if you'd gone, or what, and I'm so glad you went and had a lovely time. You look great, your son looks great....sounds like the whole thing was a lot better than sitting at home, even if you had to "toast" the "president".

13. I actually almost didn't go because of an entirely different reason
Wardrobe malfunction.

The day of the ball, the dress would not zip. Zipper malfunction. The threads of the zipper kept making it get stuck. My son, of course, wanted to just tug on the thing until he could force it zipped. I just put my jacket on and went to the school to catch the bus. Once there, one of the other mothers took the time with it and gently moved the threads out of the way and inched the zipper up.

7. Good for you!
I'm so glad you decided to go - and you look fantastic!

About that toast: when I hung out with friends many years ago, we often toasted people we didn't like. We called them real toasts, as in let's really toast 'em. So the toast went like this:
"To ________, may s/he fucking die."

It still rings thru my head from time to time.

12. I'm going to find glitter on me for the rest of my life, I think.
The dress is beautiful for sure, but the glitter... geez! It's all over my house.

14. Magnificent pictures.
You've raised a very handsome son there.

My only problem is believing that somebody looking as young as you do has a son that age.

:hi:
