Do Androids Dance Like Electric Sheep?
This is my 7,000th post. As part of the celebration, I would like to have everybody get up and dance :bounce:
So I am gonna do a little song called the Electric Sheep.
Well, it's not a song really, since there is no melody, no rhythm, no musical background, and no lyrical content. It is just a set of instructions for all of you dancing "robots" to follow. It is important, after all, to do what you are told, always, even on the dance floor, and it is also important to always do the same thing as everyone else. That way nobody can make fun of you unless they make fun of the whole herd.
But enough preliminaries. Are you ready?

Sheep to the left.
Sheep to the right.
Criss-cross ....

shocked, if not appalled.

3. I hate to admit it but...
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is the only Phllip K. Dick novel I've read.

6. He also wrote the kids book
Edited on Sun Mar-05-06 01:22 PM by hfojvt
"Secrets under the Sea" which I was surprised to learn after finding it in my collection, purchased through/from the insidious Scholastic books company.
Or I might be confusing him with Gordon R. Dickson. Now I am not sure.

11. One trip to Amazon.com can clear that up.

You're confusing him with Gordon R. Dickson.

7. well the Electric Sheep isn't really dancing either
and someone once said of dancing - "it is a vertical expression of a horizontal idea". Presumably he was talking about slow dancing, but that is not always true since I have done most of my dancing with either my sisters or my sister in law without any such ideas.

8. Nothin' wrong with ideas,
ever which way. Congratulations on your 7000, my friend. And sorry for stompin' all over your toes. I'm a novice.

(PM me your email address and I'll send you one of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs.)

5. Congrats, hfojvt!
It's just a jump to the left,
And then a step to the right,
With your hands on your sheep.

:toast: Also the star looks good again! ;)

9. How did I get a star?
I have a sugar parent? I feel so fake, unworthy, and grateful. :scared: :7 I might just run right out and check on a DU group or do an advanced search. And you are about to pass 4,000 posts, so we might be on the same milestones thread.
At least with square dancing, you a) have musical accompaniment and b) get to swing your partner and even have random partners.

I woulda donated myself and given out a few hearts if I'd known my star was gonna expire  Did I mention that this is my 6th day of recovering from my knee surgery? Still hopping on one foot. Makes it even harder to "dance".

10. I just checked and I'm quite near to 4000.
If I'm in a posting mood, I'll make it today. ;)

And get well soon! You're not one of these guys who won't use a cane because it looks 'weak', aren't you? :hi:

12. no, I am one of those guys
who thinks a cane is a cool martial arts weapon, but hopefully I will be able to walk without one shortly. In my crowded house, it just seems easier to hop. I have crutches but they do not help when you have something to carry.

13. I agree,
when you have something to carry, they're not very helpful. But if you have nothing to carry, a cane or the crutches might protect your other knee, so that it doesn't have to do all the work itself.

And you can make big jumps with crutches, too! ;)
