I just find it interesting how we humans put some people up on a perch and treat them as gods, while others who are no different have the same (or more) problems and are utterly ignored; left to rot.

It goes back to the other person (in another thread) saying celebrity worship is asinine. It is.

And I'm not yet used to the concept of mortality and prefer to feign innocence... Though I shouldn't...

As with all comments attacking people for hero worship, I wonder: What makes you think that we who comment on the lives of famous people, however frequently or rarely, do NOT consider common people in our daily thoughts?

As an outsider (Bostonian), I'd put the "Killer" as most beloved. He was there when the Twins were the Washington Senators, and jacked 573 balls out of the park, and despite a lifetime .256 BA is in Cooperstown.

That's awful. I always liked Kirby. When his retirement was announced because of his eye condition, I was at a Mariners game. Everyone in the ballpark groaned in sadness.
