If found guilty, Meiwes would be liable to life in prison

A German cannibal accused of murdering a man has told a trial court that the victim wanted to be killed and eaten, and the act recorded on video.


Armin Meiwes, 42, went on trial on Wednesday. Television images showed him, dressed smartly in jacket and tie, laughing and chatting to his lawyer in Kassel, central Germany.

It is the first time he has been shown in public since his arrest.

The computer technician said in the past few days that he regretted what had happened, but was only doing what was asked of him.

BTW, the chance to be killed by an american, if you're one of them is 7 times higher, than the chance to be killed by a german in Germany, while the suicide rate in Germany is higher than in the USA.
