"John Stewart hit a homerun"
I just heard Roger Ebert shower accolades on Stewart. He also said that Stewart could come back for 5 years and it helps him possibly get a late night network show. :bounce:

1. Right on!!!!! I just heard it too and Roper
agreed. They had nothing but GREAT things to say and I, of course, completely agree. He was PERFECT!!!!!!

2. I completely agree.
But of course some DUers dont because he didn't pander enough and make an ass out of himself by calling out Bush during a movie awards show.

4. Jon was off of his game tonight
But part of me thinks that is because his stuff was scripted by others.

That being said, I would be hard pressed to find someone who could do a better job. Stephen Colbert would be hillarious, but they would never allow someone who would be sarcastic for the entire award show.

5. Stewart is a lame sell-out corporate pandering wimp
he should have at least machine-gunned some RW assholes in the crowd (I mean surely at least one or two repukes in hollywood are talented enough to sit in the balcony or something, aren't they?)

or maybe held the whole joint hostage with a live bomb--pull out of Iraq now or hollywood gets it!

or declared revolution against the fascists--to the barricades lining the red carpet!

just being funny as hell, a great emcee and getting major digs in (the "Scorcese zero" line was frigging great) was not nearly enough. not by a long shot.

9. Me?
Sarcastic?

No, never, wouldn't happen, couldn't be.

I thought the "except being..." line clarified things. I thought he did great.

12. Well, just remember, he's an actor after is all is said and done. SAG
is who makes sure he gets his paycheck.

It's not the Political Commentary and Hard Hitting News Guild he gets his paycheck from.

It's from the Screen Actor's Guild.

I tend to form my own opinions on stuff, rather than wait for an actor to do it.

Excepting George Clooney of course, but even he and I have disagreed from time to time.

11. I actually wasn't very impressed with him. The whole thing felt like one
long-ass episode of The Daily Show.

Don't get me wrong--I love him, but I don't think he hit anything even resembling a homerun.
