White het male priviledge is usually the first thing that causes me to run away from someone--but today...I really can't believe how insane things are because of last night. Dear GOD. And as someone whose controversial opinion isn't even being addressed as far as I can tell, I can assure you, I know from bitterness and heartbreak over Oscars. Sort of. I got up today and went back to worrying about Iran, the economy, choice, health care and the ozone layer. Not about whether the Academy is full of homophobes who wouldn't know a good film if it was sitting on their...whatever. Can't how hostile, inflammatory, inappropriate or all-around pointless some of the posts I've read are. For once, matcom and I are on the same page.

Besides, for once in his life, he was right. :) It doesn't matter, folks! Awards mean nothing - what matters is whether something moves you or leaves you cold. And that's very personal and can not be determined by an award.

Of course, it's a very scary thought that matcom might actually be saner than the rest of DU.
