Poll question: Do you like Blues Music?

I personally love the Blues Music. Okay I am not so much of a BB King Fan, he's okay, but I love Lead Belly, Muddy Waters, Taj Mahall, James Cotton, Big Mama Thorton, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy and so many stars that it will be impossible to cover in a single post. Anyhow I was wondering how many DU'ers listen to this wonderful genre of music.

1. I totally LOVE blues music.

In fact, I just found out recently that BB King is coming to perform for our annual blues festival here in Santa Cruz over Memorial Day w/e! I love him and all the others you mentioned, as well. I've seen Taj, Gatemouth Brown, and many others whose names escape me at the moment.

3. BB King is to blues as Kenny Rogers is to country

commercial and showbiz-y. Something better suited for Vegas than the roadhouse, IMHO.

4. I just remembered that when I was in college I got to meet John Lee Hooker

He was playing in town and I complimented him on his very stylish rhinestone guitar pin he was wearing on the lapel of his suit jacket.

The man was charming and quite debonair....not to mention a kick-ass musician. :thumbsup:

I live around the Barrington area myself. Note I don't care if people don't like my musical choices. In my America people are allowed to disagree. :D

11. Not really Memphis/Chicago "blues"

but Zydeco, bluegrass, and "New Orleans" Jazz which often gets lumped in with blues. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of blues, but not as much the Memphis and esp. Chicago styles.

12. use the 90% rule...

90% of the content of any genre of music, from classical,to hair bands'to country, to hip-hop,to jazz,to whatever, is always not worth your listen. But that ten percent is big enough to saturate you 24 hours of the day for the rest of your life. People who bitch aren't trying hard enough to find it. I've been bored by blues players and absolutely varnished to the wall by great blues. and 5hats the truth.:think:
