And I have just the thing: freshly cooked rhubarb! Who'd like some? It's nice and hot, and sweet too!

5. Damn, boy, you gotta have some! It takes a TON of sugar to make it
edible, but it's worth it.

I used to really like rhubarb sauce over vanilla ice cream when I was a kid. Try it.

I bet you'll like it, and I probably still would, but I don't like ice cream anymore.

But I'll still eat some strawberry-rhubarb pie, when Mrs R makes it. It's even better in a pie when matched with peaches and/or blueberries.

Go get some!

10. My dear Redstone!
How lovely to see you tonight!

I have had rhubarb in pie, but not in a long time.....I just love the sauce, plain......

I can bet it would be good with ice cream! If you liked that, which I most unfortunately do......

16. You just eat the sauce with a spoon? You're missing out on the good stuff.
At least try throwing it on a split biscuit, with some whipped cream...strawberry shortcake, but with rhubarb.

You won't be sorry you did.

20. Yes, my dear, a spoon!
I do think about having it other ways........

But those ways bring mucho calories along with them!

And I am trying to lose some unwanted fat, you know......

9. You've gotta get some rhubarb
They're all right...it's the BEST stuff -- once it's made right. I have a recipe somewhere for strawberry rhubarb preserves that is to DIE for.

And strawberry-rhubarb pie, warm from the oven with a little vanilla ice cream...

Heaven on earth.

We have some that grows under a linden tree in the front yard. In fact, it oughta be trying to come up pretty soon...

12. Ooh, your recipe sounds wonderful too!
We can get it here in SoCal all spring, and into the summer too....

I'm not sure if it's grown locally, though....

This might have been hothouse grown....still yummy!

18. Now I'm gonna have to go hunt
through everything and see if I can find it. Suddenly I'm craving rhubarb. And it's DEFINITELY not in season here. Not yet, anyway.

I did make a cherry cobbler tonight that's downstairs calling to me.

I'm trying to resist...

...yeah...that's the ticket. That sounds good. I made it for the kids. Uh huh.

My ass is motivating me to be a good and kind and generous mommy and stay away from it.

Along with the ice cream.

2. Oh yummy
When I was growing up we had a rhubarb patch in the backyard. My mom used to make these rhubarb bars that were da bomb diggety.

Does rhubarb grow well in SoCal?

13. Oh, I wish you could come by!
But I suspect that you want nothing more than to go home, and see how your kitten is doing, right?

You'll just have to get your mom's recipe, and learn how to make it!

15. Yes, I'm headed home
to the 2 amigo gatitos. I ended up not calling the vet this morning...Spencer's symptoms were all gone! Just like a kid about to be taken to the doctor, I tell ya. I've decided to watch him for the time being and call the vet if the symptoms return.

Me? Make something? As in bake? Surely you kid.

14. I could use me some of that!
One of the unpleasant side-effects of Vicodin is the need for things like prune juice.

Rhubarb is far more preferable. :9

17. Oh, I hear ya, my dear Rev!
I call this stuff my spring tonic! And I agree, this is much more agreeable than prune juice!

This is also excellent for lowering your cholesterol.....it removes the fat from your blood....and like that!

And it is so delicious!

How are you feeling tonight? I hope you're better, sweetie! :loveya:

21. Doing a little better.
The rash is definately fading, and the pain is a tad less than yesterday.

You know, there's rhubarb in the parsonage yard. I'm gonna have to keep my eyes opened for it this year. Last spring, it didn't come up until mid-June (it was a weird year).

19. Really? You just need some practice. I take four Vikes (EX version) every
day, and never had that problem.

So, I assume that your shingles thing has cleared up?

22. Your body is used to the Vikes
for those not accustomed to taking a lot of opiod pain meds, laxatives are often necessary.

28. That's why I go three weeks on, and one off.
That fourth week isn't fun, but it resets the "tolerance clock." And keeps me from getting in trouble with dependence, and that.

But when I start again, I don't notice that side effect. Must just be me, since it happens to so many others.
