My child is looney.
I am distressed. They are downright delusional. Nothing I can do to fix it. Totally up to them - whether to comply with treatment (which would allow a normal life) or to resist medication. A mental health clinician today told me that symptoms are "characterological" - whatever the hell that means - not delusional. I was so distraught that I did not challenge her.

1. No more concentrated sugars or processed carbohydrates.
For any of you. :)

2. That works for me!
In fact, I've been indulging in far too many of those "comfort" foods to be comfortable in my skin at the moment. However, the child is an adult with Bipolar Disorder.

3. Ouch.
I don't even know what I can say to help, except that I'm here if you ever want to talk.

5. Gotta let go. Gotta let go. Gotta let go.
I love them. I love them. I love them.

It's not up to me. It's not up to me. It's not up to me.

Come back to me, my darling one. Come back to us all, won't you please.

Reach for true health. Let go of that/those delusions.

Or I may just join you and be loony too.

No!

I gotta let go.

The journey is yours.

Ouch is right.

Thanks, LeftyMom.

4. "normal", are you on any medications?
That question is sarcasm.

But the phase "normal" is faaaaaaaaar, from reality. About the distance between your home and the galaxy known as Andromeda.

Medications will screw up your child's body, have no doubt.

Some will kill. Either quickly or over time.

Most "clinicians" don't do anything more than read a book. They have no experience, care for observation, or time to really look at a child. Just dope 'em up and send them on their way. They are tools of the pharma and insurance companies, who will turn around and jack up your rates because you are a "higher risk".

I've been trying to conform all my life. It's been painful. And to this day, people who really ought to be on "medications" get to do more and be more because they're thuggish little pompous smartass self-important bullies... You try to work with the system and they punish you for it, doing nothing to the REAL problem.

Do what you think is best.

Oh, "characterological" is either a made-up word or it pertains to your child's personality; your child's character. A P.D.D. perhaps...

6. This child is a grownup, HypnoToad.
What I meant was that I want them to live with less pain. I think the clinician was ... trying to sound knowledgeable .... put me off ... who knows.
