I just had to post this. As many people already know, Kirby Puckett suffered a massive stroke on Sunday and today he died in the hospital in Phoenix, AZ. He was 45.
He was a great baseball player. He made me a fan when I was a little kid. I remember going to the Metrodome as a kid, and watching him play. Batting practice was always a joy, with 10 players around the cage, watching him smash hits into the outfield. Then he would go 4-5 and make a couple outstanding catches. He always hustled. He always smiled. He always had time for everyone. He WAS the Twins organization.
The Twins organization also lost one of its icons last year in Bob Casey. And right now, as Puck's entering a different place, it's Bob Casey, making the call that all Twins fans remember..."Now batting, the center fielder..... Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrbbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Puckett".
Rest In Peace
