My mom just died.

I'm still in shock. She died peacefully, in her sleep. There was no indication this was coming (other than her chronic lung disease). I've packed up stuff and am heading down to be with Dad, who is pretty broken up.

Be good to yourself. You can't give what you don't have. You have an ideal opportunity to connect with her spirit for the next couple or three days. This has worked for me and will give the two of you access to each other for awhile longer.

See yourself in the center of a perfectly formed, comfortably large circle. Fill it with gentle, golden flame, moving through you and all around you. Breathe normally. *Let* yourself breathe. Don't *make* yourself breathe. It may change into and egg. If it moves or changes, let it. If you get sensations and feelings moving, have them and watch things progress. This means your processing what you've been holding and going through. Breathing normally and paying attention to the image and your breath stabilizes the images and the experience.

After you see the images as being stable and while you're in the middle of them, ask to be with yor mom. You should be right there. The two of you will have unfettered access to each other and anything you want will be able to pass between the two of you.

See her in her own circle also surrounded, inside and out, with gentle golden flame. You'll feel/see flame, sensations and emotions transmitting back and forth between you. It may be intense at first. With renewed effort, the intensity will lessen as things get exchanged between the two of you and your situations come more into balance. Just focus on the image and breathe normally.

After the intensity has settled down, denoting balance between the two of you, do the above again, this time substituting violet flame which will create more healing and grounding.

My brother just got here a 1/2 hour ago. Dad has finally been able to get some sleep, but he got up to give John a hug. And I just now popped a couple of ibuprofin - my first pain meds of the day. It's amazing what adrenaline will do to distract you (or keep you going).

Tomorrow, we go to the funeral home to do whatever we need to do. Then tomorrow afternoon is a memorial service here at their retirement home. We'll probably have the church service on Friday or Saturday. John's wife & kids will fly in on Thursday and join us for the weekend.

I am stunned at the outpouring of love and support from all of you. I knew I loved this community, but you have shown me the depth of that love, and I will always, always be grateful for that.
