Poll question: Project Runway fans: Who will win?
I have no idea who will win tomorrow. I thought it would be Daniel but Tim didn't like his collection so now I'm really curious.

What are your thoughts?

1. I hate to admit I've been watching this
as I'm no great fan of couture and I detest reality TV - but this show is addictive.

And I am afraid Santino will win. I can't stand his overly-abrasive and self-aggrandizing personality - who can? - but I've seen the NY Fashion Week photos of the designers' collections, and his is the best of the bunch. I'm hoping for Chloe, but I'm afraid it will be Santino's.

I like Daniel, but his collection, from the photos I saw, is so safe they could offer it at Sears.

2. I think the "judges" wanted Santino voted off a long time ago
but I bet the producers wanted him on...otherwise there wouldn't have been as much "drama.'

I too don't like reality shows but this one really appeals to me. Maybe because the people are actually creative and talented.

3. I think it will be Santino
From what they allowed us to see of their collections, his looked the best. I especially liked the dress that he was working on when Tim stopped in to visit him.

They didn't show a whole lot of Cloe's collection..but that poufy pink overcoat with the gold dress underneath??..that doesn't appeal to me.

And, Daniel's surprisingly seems just OK at this point...

4. I'm pulling for Santino.
His designs are at least unique.

Daniel is so fucking fake, he drives me INSANE. Say what you want about Santino, but at least he's a real person.

Chloe... meh. Neither her, nor her designs interest me at all.

Yeah me too. We actually ran into it on a Saturday afternoon and my wife watched several shows in a row. That show is 45% of the Bravo line-up right now, seriously it is always on.

Anyway even pregnant Heidi Klum made watching easier. :wow:

I am usually holding the baby at that point of the evening anyway so I don't care what is on TV.

BTW- you might know this- What is the deal with Daniel and Heidi? During the reunion at the end of talking to him about possibly being on the next season (it was picked up) he ended with "I love you Heidi" in a really weird way. It was almost like a stalker or something.

At least he said so during last week's show. So I don't think anything's "going on". I think Daniel is just fake as hell, so it was his weird way of sucking up probably.

(where did you go?) I think. He is the one who said, during the reunion show, "I Love You Heidi" and he purports to be straight. He even made poor little Raymundo say he was.

:spray: I use that smilie very rarely!

I could not stand Santino until I watched the reunion episode and part 1 of the finale. I always liked his designs (while some were out of control, at least they were innovative), and now I really really really like him. He's very...real, as stupid as that sounds.

I like Chloe as well, but her designs are just second to Santino's.

5. I think it will be Santino, even though I was hoping for Daniel
If Santino has actually figured out that the judges weren't out to get him and were trying to help him out with their critiques, and if he took their advice to heart, and if he'd let up on being a dick for about 5 minutes then I'd actually be ok with him winning because he clearly is a creative designer. Daniel & Chloe are great but they are safer looking designs.

I was going to say that I hate that I like this show, but whatever. I frickin' like it and I'm happy to finally have a Wednesday night off so I can see it then instead of having to wait for the weekend repeats.

I really wanted it to be Chloe, as she is the hometown girl from Houston (and I loved her outfit that won when she designed with Emmett), but I don't think, from what I saw of her collection, that her collection will be the winner. Still, her designs ARE better than last season's WENDY PEPPER!!! Daniel's purse did look like it was made in wood shop 101, and he was so proud of it. I really thought he would walk away with everything, as his designs up to this point, have been exceptional, especially for someone his age. They are sophisticated, imaginative and thoughtful of women. And I did really like the jacket he showed Tim, and the way the fabric was cut. But I think Santino's use of sunburst pleats in that one dress, and the way he dyed the fabric was SO imaginative and creative, that his collection will be the one to watch.... IMHO.

11. I think Santino will win
Even though some of his work is overly frilly.

Count me as another hetero male who LOVES this show, partly for the genuine creative talent, and in part for the interplay of so many outsized personalities. You couldn't make these people up. And Heidi Klum's presence doesn't hurt - I think lots of impure thoughts when she says "Auf Wiedersehen!"

Tim Gunn is great. Nina Franco (sp?) should be shot. I don't think anything even remotely resembling constructive input has ever passed through her lips.

12. I love Santino's collection
And really his entire aesthetic, save that silly skating dress and the Kara jumpsuit. I watched the additional footage of the lingerie challenge on the PR site--it's about seven minutes of Santino and Nina sparring over the lingerie--and he makes completely convincing arguments. And, let's face it, I loved the boldness of the lingerie he did long before I saw that clip.

I think Daniel's stuff is more boring than shopping in Talbot's. Is that the kind of stuff we want fashion designers for? To produce clothing that looks like it has already been mass-produced.....many years ago? For women my mother's age?

Chloe is probably my second favorite. I think this will come down to, in large part, how much they weight the challenges from earlier in the season and how much they weight just the line itself because Santino's is far superior to the other two lines.

14. I want Daniel, but it will probably be Santino.
I can't believe I'm hooked on this show. I have ZERO interest in fashion. I don't buy new clothing unless I have to and then I look for something I can buy without trying it on. The whole process is sheer torture for me.

Yet, there's something weirdly addictive about this show. So, with my zero interest in - and less than zero knowledge of - fashion, I base my choice on the one I like the most as a person and whose clothes would make most women look least like a circus freak. Last year, it was Kara Saun (except for her leather and fur fetishy things) and this year it's Daniel.

Full Disclosure: To add to my humiliation at being hooked on this reality show, I confess I'm also hooked on two others. One is Lisa Loeb's and the other is - can I bring myself to say it? - American Idol. Go ahead, lob the bricks my way. You can't say anything my spousal unit hasn't already said about it. In my defense, I've never seen Survivor, Fear Factor, or any of the others.

21. i didn't catch it, but just checked online...
i really think they gave daniel one too many passes, probably because half the judges want to do him. i really dig a few of his designs, but his NYC Fashion Week show line is definitely too much on the safe side. aside from like 2-3 outfits the rest of his work is like off-the-rack hausfrau dreck paraded at your local second rate department store. he wasn't pushing himself, and in the one place where it really counts. is he deliberately shooting for a job at Talbots?

chloe was one of the contestants that i really liked to keep an eye on. she has an amazing work ethic, professionalism, and understanding of a woman's shape and the demands of the business. she's well experienced and it shows. that said, her fashion week line is just severely hampered by poor fabric choices. i think she chose colors and materials that are just too difficult to be flattering on just any model. several of the model's skin tones clashed horribly -- but to be fair some colors are just unflattering in excess no matter who wears it -- and others had the satiny, billowy effect end up with the dress wearing the poor woman instead of the woman wearing the dress. and don't get me started on that patterned fabric. let's just say that was an accent fabric at best... i expected better.

kara's line just bugged. too many of her designs just clashed horribly, with themselves let alone the models! the tramp-rocker-goodwill 2nd hand-chic look is over, god-willing, and this might help add another nail to its coffin. there's too few who can pull it off, there's an overwhelming obsession on accessories, and most designers are positively hopeless in trying to pull it off. leave this one to the avant-guarde teenagers trying to find themselves. with beautiful teenage bodies and a firebrand personality to match they can wear clumps of mud and look good; no sense trying to chase after the intangible, the results are just going to end in tears.

i'm utterly surprised by santino this time. he is talented, and his style is definitely more in line with this challenge than the previous challenges offered. though part of me expected that he would have gone more cirque du soleil than what he offered here. i'm quite impressed. but he also wisely selected some outstanding fabrics, in particular that varied toned gossamer (y'know, the rainbow sherbert one ;) ). he also seemed to pay attention to the models and must have chosen which one wears what. the colors work well with them, as do the shapes, and a lot more classic lines and structure was implemented than the santino work we've come to know and gape at. someone definitely busted out the mental color wheel and matched the models accordingly. they ended up not fighting the dress, and that's key. there's also some interesting play, as is expected from him, in the cuts. that's good, because once you get a good foundation, as most of the designs were, you are free to tinker with the personal touches. y'know i'd be pleasantly surprised if santino wins. he did a very good job in this challenge.

personally though, half of the designers on the show showed promise. if it wasn't for the time pressure, incredibly low budget at times ($100 for a dress of flowers? and the judges were bitching about the lack of flowers and color? have they been to a nursery or florist lately -- or in this lifetime? darlings, be glad they weren't imitating eve with grape leaf coverings and lone rose between their teeth!), and some other positively ridiculous challenges, i think many of those that made it pretty far could end up wowing us. i rarely watch reality TV (for i despise it), but this series has been a blast, and quite educational about the intensity of the world of fashion. one day you're in, the next, you're out!
:D

22. Santino, and it kills me to say it, because he's a filthy liar.
The way he was like "oh, Kara loves her outfit, she was jumping up and down backstage, that's why it's falling off her" or whatever, and he glued part of it on...

Santino acts like someone who is either really talented, or really troubled in a scary way. And the judges are right, he DOESN'T think about a woman's body, he thinks about being as out there as he can.

That said, I LOVE what I saw of his collection. That one dress he showed Tim was gorgeous. I'm starting to think he just played kooky nut so that he could wow everyone with his collection.

I loved Chloe's ice skating outfit, and she is a boring workhorse IMO, but I like her stuff too. I like Daniel too... he seems to have gotten cocky since they left to work on their stuff, though.

Santino's the only one that's really EXCITING.

25. I think the designing for women's bodies criticism
of Santino is phony, with all due respect. I think he completely designs for women's bodies but I think the problem is that he has a particular way of working--he likes using intricate techniques that cannot be accomplished in the outrageously short deadlines PR permits.

There is a notable difference in the quality of his work in the first challenge, the Nicky Hilton challenge (well sewn and constructed) and the jump suit...because his work requires a great deal of time and he often works without a machine.

Heidi doesn't like Empire waists, apparently, so she started this thing about Santino not designing for a woman's body. Yes, he loves his Empire waists, but Empire waisted dresses are pretty common in fashion magazines and on the runway, but, as Heidi also admitted in an interview, she doesn't really know anything about fashion; that's what Nina and Michael are there for. And sometimes the "out there-ness" of Santino's designs are just what this show needs...I remember last season, people oooohing and ahhhing over Kara Saun's collection because they thought Jay's was too out there. And then he won.

OK, I'm obsessed with this show. After tomorrow I'm entering a recovery program for it.

24. I read that KARA would have won
She was the "decoy" collection at Fashion Week, and it was, by far, the best received. The stuff on her website is great, as is her collection... why didn't she do some of that on the show? She also grew on me -- I think she's probably very nice.

I'm not into fashion but am having fun picking what I think looks best. I'm also not into reality tv. I mostly like the interplay of their over-sized personalities.

It's kind of fun watching Heidi Klum making them sweat as she draws out the time telling them which one is "out". She says their name and waits many seconds before saying "you're in".

27. Santino will win
It was obvious to both of us from the way the show was attempting to rehabilitate Santino's image last week. Frankly, I'm sad. I don't care how much of a visionary he supposedly is. He's a huge pain in the ass. I liked Daniel's designs. I'm disappointed that it sounds like he wasn't able to pull together a better collection.

Heidi Klum is the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen. I also have a teeny, weeny crush on Tim Gunn. (Of course, my heart still belongs to the Prosecutie.)

but after the last episode i'm worried,

i hated the purses he designed and i don't get that at all.

i'm sick of deconstruction in fashion -- so santino isn't showing me anything i want to see.

i mean we are supposed to be in a post deconstruction phase, right?

if daniel v. played it too safe in his designs -- he's be second or even third to santino and chloe.

32. Santino
Can't stand the guy but he is a great designer. He also knows how to play the game and making himself known and indispensable to the show. Daniel's stuff is to understated and those bags are a disaster. I'm glad he made it to the finals because I like seeing his model, she is the most gorgeous of all of them. Chloe doesn't have enough of an imagination in my opinion. It was harsh of Santino to call her a pattern maker but he is pretty close, she hasn't crossed the line from craft to art.

So that is weird about Kara. Why did they have her do that but not really compete?

I thought the 13th piece was bullshit too, but I thought it would have been even funnier if they had made them make it and then said, "Ha! We were just kidding! You don't have to use it!"

Cause sometimes I can be a bit sadistic, I suppose. LOL.
