Madonna's Daughter Asks Her If She Is Gay For Kissing Britney

NEW YORK -- Moms always have to deal with tough questions from their kids, but they probably don't have the kind that Madonna gets from her daughter.

Madonna told Out magazine her daughter, Lourdes, is "really obsessed with who is gay."

Madonna said she had some explaining to do when Lourdes asked about that kiss with Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

She said Lourdes told her, "Mom, you know they say that you are gay?"

Lourdes told her it's because she kissed Spears.

Madonna told her daughter she was not gay and gave quite the explanation: "I am the mommy pop star and she is the baby pop star, and I am kissing her to pass my energy on to her."

The 47-year-old Madonna kissed the 24-year-old Spears during a performance of Madonna's songs "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood."

Lourdes even asks her mom if she'd like her to point out who the gay men are, and Madonna says, "OK, but I think I already know."

The pop diva also addressed her feud with Elton John, who in 2004 accused her of lip-synching. She said, "He seems to be angry," and "I seem to have become a target. It's not very gentlemanly or gracious. But he did send me a letter apologizing for his last outburst, right before his wedding" in December.
