Who are some actors who never won the Oscar?
and if you could give them the Oscar--for what performance?

Well, my #1 Oscarless great actor is Cary Grant. Despite two nominations--he never won an Oscar--he later got a honorary Oscar.

There are tons of films he deserved to be nominated for but I think the film which best sums up his career is "North by Northwest" it had it all--comedy, romance, suspense, drama.

1. Peter O' Toole for "The Lion in Winter"
Every bit the equal of Katharine Hepburn. He should have won as well.

2. I agree
and Hepburn should have won her Oscar alone--not sharing it with Barbara Streisand.

6. And he was nominated on other occasions.
Edited on Tue Mar-07-06 09:40 PM by CBHagman
The story that I heard was that Richard Burton was halfway out of his seat when they were announcing Best Actor on the very last occasion that he was nominated for an Oscar...and then he realized they were calling Richard Dreyfuss's name.

16. Ever hear of something called To Kill a Mockingbird?
Yes, yes, it's true! Peck's portrayal of Atticus Finch got him the little nekkid statue.

I got to get you an almanac, blondeatlast, so you can look up this stuff late at night.

13. Even though it's WAY not too late: Glenn Close.
Now, not to say that Cher isn't a good actress, but DAMN, the Academy ROBBED Glenn Close (Moonstruck? Fatal Attraction? No contest).

:hi:

20. True, but he IS the producer of Dinner For Five. One of my fave shows.
And I must admit I am shocked that Conway never won a statue for his Dorf On Golf series.

The academy is blind.
