someone is using my card or someone swiped the number and made their own card with my account number. so far they're tried to use it 3 times at various gas stations around Cupertino.

1. That happened to me a few weeks ago.
Someone used our AmEx for $800 in charges. AmEx caught it quickly, called us to verify we didn't make the charges and cancelled the card. We had a new card in a few days. They're good and should resolve the issue for you quickly. Good luck.

2. you know whats weird? I got a new amex card 2 days ago in the mail
the numbers were a little different but the expiration was the same as the one i had already so i think this has been going on for awhile. So far no charges have gotten through thankfully and if they do they said i won't be liable for them since i have a new card.

3. That happened with our debit card
I was at work that Friday night and was literally watching more money being taken out of our checking account while I was sitting there. I went to the bank first thing in the morning, but I did have to file a police report and file a bunch of paperwork, but it all was credited back to my account.

I shred everything and never use that one online. I have no idea how that happened.

It's amazing how easy they can do it and what they get away with. What pissed me off was the fact that the bank, not us, was technically the victim and it was unlikely would ever be pursued.

4. I can't understand it either, i haven't used that card in months
and i also shred everything so i'm thinking someone at a store i used it at kept the number and either used it or sold it, pisses me off. American express was good about it though, they called and went over the attempts with me and said they sent me a new card because of suspicious activity, i'm hoping its the end of it now.
