Everything DOES NOT happen for a reason. The implication here is that there's a GOOD reason for everything, or at the very least a sound one.

79. You're not supposed to figure it out. It's right-wing masturbatory
soft-porn. No matter how many Americans die horrible deaths, no matter how many come home missing legs, arms, faces and testicles, no matter how many crack under the strain and kill themselves or their wives or their children, no matter how many billions in tax-payer dollars and Chinese-purchased T-bills thrown down the crapper for no reason, no matter that the administration is blatantly, smugly and proudly spying on American citizens, no matter that America has joined Uruguay, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Indonesia and Pakistan among the nations that officially sanction torture, no matter how long Osama Bin Laden remains free and at large, drawing closer and closer to a death by natural causes, no matter about any of that; The brain-dead right-wingers of this once-great country will croon to themselves "Well, freedom isn't free!" and everything will be all right.

68. I know Ghandi said it.
But it's been appropriated by a lot of nutjobs on the left to prop up their idiotic conspiracy theories (Chetrails, etc.)as if to say, "Well, you laugh now, but someday, EVERYONE will know the TRUTH about Chemtrails!"

Any group, no matter how dangerous, could use this quote to defend themselves against criticism. We laugh at Intelligent Design boosters, but they could use that quote, too. It's basically saying that any loony theory or view will eventually be considered the normal view simply by continuing to exist.

71. taken in context it's a cool epigram
ID is a whacko brainfart and always will be, Ghandi was taking about non-violent direct action. There is and always will be several degrees of magnitude seperating those two things.

If anyone is foolish enough to appropriate that saying for their insane cause it won't stop them from being defeated, it's just another demonstration of their ignorance. I don't know about chemtrails but perhaps the people mis-using the quote should study the original setting in which it was said.
